The Long Road of Blog
“It’s as though I were living at last in my eyes, as I have always dreamed of doing, and I think then I know why I’ve come here: to see, and so to go out against new things—oh god how easily—like air in a breeze. It’s true there are moments—foolish moments, ecstasy on a tree stump—when I’m all but gone, scattered I like to think like seed…”
William Gass, In the Heart of the Heart of the Country
How Getting Fired Made My Dream Come True
The best classrooms are like cliffs, pushing you to the edge of how you see yourself and the world so you can experience life even more deeply and widely.
Day 93 - Sliding into Home Plate
I blogged every day for three months. I got the perfect poop. I quit drinking coffee. I lost some weight (not one of the goals, but I bought a belt). I went surfing with Frosty Hesson (or, really, I lay on a board and Frosty pushed me into a gentle swell). All of these things were ways to help me to believe I am valuable; I am safe; I am lovable; I am real.
Day 92 - Frosty Says It's All about the Glide
I was afraid. Worst case, a rogue wave was going to come screaming in from Japan and take me down and under and kill me.
Day 91 - How Much Creative Work Can I Do Without Social Media?
Thank you for sticking with me through this outpouring of Anne.
Day 89 - Starting a New Project
Yesterday I started out sitting, but after half an hour of brainstorming, I was on the floor, fetalled.
Day 88 - Organic Rising
What if the only person you had to please was yourself? What would happen? What would you do? What clothes would you wear? What music would you listen to? What food would you eat? Who would you love?
Day 87 - The Perfect Nectarine
I went to the downtown Santa Cruz farmer's market today and had what I think was a perfect nectarine.
Day 86 - Eat Some Chocolate and Throw the Rest Away and Then Go in the Trash to Get It Back
Some days are for praying. Some days are for exercising. Some days are for working. Some days are for cleaning. Some days are for eating chocolate.
Day 84 - The Perfect Poop and A Pep Talk
I thought about what it meant to deplete myself, how it feels to give myself away and to feel less than because of it.
Day 83 - The Power of Music to Help You Jump States
My friend Janie sent me a song the other day to listen to and i was up until midnight.
Day 82 - What Work Is
I have noticed during this retreat, just as I have noticed while working on this 93-day project, that living a life you feel proud of, living a life of purpose, one steered by intention, takes diligent focus and commitment.
