Small
When I was a little girl, I loved books and horses and dolls. I loved my mom and dad. I loved the smell of crocuses.
When I was a little girl, I loved being outside in the rain. I loved puddles. I loved my grandma and grandpa and going for swims in the lake by their house. I loved my aunts and uncles and cousins. I loved my friends. I loved french toast and pancakes and Wonder Bread and almost any cereal. I loved drinking milk straight from the glass bottle. I loved Kool-Aid and popsicles.
When I was a little girl, I loved laughing. I loved when my dad made jokes. I loved when my mom baked bread and we ate it warm with butter. I loved having my own bedroom. I loved leaving towels on the floor after I took a shower or a bath.
When I was a little girl, I loved our backyard. I loved the meadow and the little scooped area that was just my size. I loved sitting on our front porch and watching the cars go by. I loved our barn and that we could climb up a ladder to the second floor and yell at people through the window and hide before they could see us.
When I was a little girl, I loved the smell of our green VW bug. It smelled like going to the Vineyard.
When I was a little girl, I loved running around and screaming with my friends. I loved jumping into water. I loved catching tadpoles. I loved watching birds come to the feeder. I loved saying titmouse.
When I was a little girl, I loved when my mom rubbed my back. My back, it seemed, was made to be touched. Sometimes my mom would draw words, and I would guess what she was saying to me.
When I was a little girl, I knew I would be that way forever.
