The Dust Mote Meditation
I had such a nice time this morning being a dust mote. I thought I would share what I imagined with you so you could be a dust mote, too, if that feels like a good idea.
Imagine the universe attaches a kind vacuum cleaner to the top of your head and gently sucks out everything that is inside of you: all your thoughts, your liver, last night’s dinner, your fingernails. All gone.
You are empty.
In fact, you are a dust mote floating in space along with billions of other dust motes. You have no thoughts, no bank accounts, no memories. What you have is the sensation of floating.
So you float and feel the pleasure of no-thought, of no-thing.
But even dust motes feel the need to have connection.
It turns out dust motes also have an energy field that acts as a magnet that pulls them towards like-fielded energy motes. You may float for six trillion years before finding your match, but it is a cosmic promise there is a match for you out there, and one day you will find your other and then, for the rest of eternity, you will be two dust motes experiencing floating in space knowing you are not alone.
